40:1___Some_time_later，_the_cupbearer_and_the_baker_of_the_king_of_Egypt_offended_their_master，_the_king_of_Egypt。
不久，埃及的司酒长和膳食长冒犯了法老。
40:2___Pharaoh_was_angry_with_his_two_officials，_the_chief_cupbearer_and_the_chief_baker，
法老非常生气，
40:3___and_put_them_in_custody_in_the_house_of_the_captain_of_the_guard，_in_the_same_prison_where_Joseph_was_confined。
就命侍卫长把两人关押起来。
关押他们的地方，正是约瑟所在的监狱。
40:4___The_captain_of_the_guard_assigned_them_to_Joseph，_and_he_attended_them。_After_they_had_been_in_custody_for_some_time，
侍卫长指派约瑟去服侍他们。
司酒长和膳食长被关押了一段时间，
40:5___each_of_the_two_men--the_cupbearer_and_the_baker_of_the_king_of_Egypt，_who_were_being_held_in_prison--had_a_dream_the_same_night，_and_each_dream_had_a_meaning_of_its_own。
一天晚上，他们各自做了一个梦，梦中有着令人费解的征兆。
40:6___When_Joseph_came_to_them_the_next_morning，_he_saw_that_they_were_dejected。
第二天早上，约瑟去到他们的牢房，看到两人都是一副愁眉不展的模样。
40:7___So_he_asked_Pharaoh＇s_officials_who_were_in_custody_with_him_in_his_master＇s_house，_“Why_are_your_faces_so_sad_today?“
约瑟问他们：“你们今天的脸色，为何这般难看？”
40:8___“We_both_had_dreams，“_they_answered，_“but_there_is_no_one_to_interpret_them。“_Then_Joseph_said_to_them，_“Do_not_interpretations_belong_to_God?_Tell_me_your_dreams。“
两人说：“我们都做了一个梦，但是不知道征兆着什么？”
约瑟说：“梦是上帝对我们未来的启示，你们做了什么样的梦？”
40:9___So_the_chief_cupbearer_told_Joseph_his_dream。_He_said_to_him，_“In_my_dream_I_saw_a_vine_in_front_of_me，
司酒长说：“我在梦中看到，我站在一棵葡萄树前面，”
40:10__and_on_the_vine_were_three_branches。_As_soon_as_it_budded，_it_blossomed，_and_its_clusters_ripened_into_grapes。
“那颗树上有三个分支。那些分支在我面前发芽开花，很快就结成累累的熟葡萄。”
40:11__Pharaoh＇s_cup_was_in_my_hand，_and_I_took_the_grapes，_squeezed_them_into_Pharaoh＇s_cup_and_put_the_cup_in_his_hand。“
“我手上拿着法老的酒杯，摘下那些葡萄，挤了满满一杯的汁液，然后把酒杯送到法老的手中。”
40:12__“This_is_what_it_means，“_Joseph_said_to_him。_“The_three_branches_are_three_days。
约瑟对他说：“你的梦应该这样解读，三个分支象征着三天。”
40:13__Within_three_days_Pharaoh_will_lift_up_your_head_and_restore_you_to_your_position，_and_you_will_put_Pharaoh＇s_cup_in_his_hand，_just_as_you_used_to_do_when_you_were_his_cupbearer。
“三天之内，法老就会释放你，恢复你的官职。你依然会是司酒长，你会一如既往的把酒杯送到法老的手中。”
40:14__But_when_all_goes_well_with_you，_remember_me_and_show_me_kindness;_mention_me_to_Pharaoh_and_get_me_out_of_this_prison。
“当你重获任用后，请你务必不要忘记我，请你在法老面前提及我的苦难，你的仁慈将会把我救离出这个监狱。”
40:15__For_I_was_forcibly_carried_off_from_the_land_of_the_Hebrews，_and_even_here_I_have_done_nothing_to_deserve_being_put_in_a_dungeon。“
“我原本生活在希伯来人的土地上，后来被人掳掠到埃及。”
“我未曾做过任何违反法理的事，无端就被关押在监狱里。”
40:16__When_the_chief_baker_saw_that_Joseph_had_given_a_favorable_interpretation，_he_said_to_Joseph，_“I_too_had_a_dream:_On_my_head_were_three_baskets_of_bread。
膳食长见约瑟把司酒长的梦解说得甚好，也说：“我的梦是这样的：我的头上顶着三筐食物。”
40:17__In_the_top_basket_were_all_kinds_of_baked_goods_for_Pharaoh，_but_the_birds_were_eating_them_out_of_the_basket_on_my_head。“
“最顶上的筐子。装着的是我为法老烤制的各式各样饼食，一群飞鸟在不断的啄食框子里的食物。”
40:18__“This_is_what_it_means，“_Joseph_said。_“The_three_baskets_are_three_days。
约瑟对他说：“你的梦应该这样解读，三个筐子象征着三天。”
40:19__Within_three_days_Pharaoh_will_lift_off_your_head_and_hang_you_on_a_tree。_And_the_birds_will_eat_away_your_flesh。“
“三天之内，你会被法老绞死，尸体悬挂在木架之上，身上的血肉任由飞鸟啄食。”
40:20__Now_the_third_day_was_Pharaoh＇s_birthday，_and_he_gave_a_feast_for_all_his_officials。_He_lifted_up_the_heads_of_the_chief_cupbearer_and_the_chief_baker_in_the_presence_of_his_officials:
到了第三天，这天是法老的生日，法老安排盛宴招待所有的官员。
法老命人将司酒长和膳食长从监狱里提了出来。
40:21__He_restored_the_chief_cupbearer_to_his_position，_so_that_he_once_again_put_the_cup_into_Pharaoh＇s_hand，
法老恢复了司酒长的官职，让他一如既往的负责侍奉自己喝酒。
40:22__but_he_hanged_the_chief_baker，_just_as_Joseph_had_said_to_them_in_his_interpretation。
膳食长却是被处死了，尸体悬挂在木架上。
这一切，正如约瑟的预言。
40:23__The_chief_cupbearer，_however，_did_not_remember_Joseph;_he_forgot_him。
然而，司酒长重获任用后，却把约瑟嘱咐的事情忘记得一干二净。
