11:1___Now_the_whole_world_had_one_language_and_a_common_speech。
最初，人类只有一种语言。
11:2___As_men_moved_eastward，_they_found_a_plain_in_Shinar_and_settled_there。
人们在向东方迁移时，经过示拿，发现了大片的平原，就定居了下来。
11:3___They_said_to_each_other，_“Come，_let＇s_make_bricks_and_bake_them_thoroughly。“_They_used_brick_instead_of_stone，_and_tar_for_mortar。
有人说：“我们来造砖吧，我懂得烧制坚硬的砖块。”
于是，他们就用砖块代替石头来建造房屋，又把柏油抹在砖缝间，使房屋更加坚固。
11:4___Then_they_said，_“Come，_let_us_build_ourselves_a_city，_with_a_tower_that_reaches_to_the_heavens，_so_that_we_may_make_a_name_for_ourselves_and_not_be_scattered_over_the_face_of_the_whole_earth。“
又有人说：“我们要建造一个可以容纳所有人的城市，城市里要有一座可以通到天上的塔。”
“如此一来，我们就可以团聚在一起，不必在大地上四处迁徙，我们的名字也因此会被后人铭记。”
11:5___But_the_LORD_came_down_to_see_the_city_and_the_tower_that_the_men_were_building。
耶和华降临到地上，观看人类是如何建造那城和那塔的。
11:6___The_LORD_said，_“If_as_one_people_speaking_the_same_language_they_have_begun_to_do_this，_then_nothing_they_plan_to_do_will_be_impossible_for_them。
耶和华后来说：“人类使用一种语言沟通，联合在一起。”
“他们如今不过是建造通天之塔，如果继续下去，就难以控制了。”
11:7___Come，_let_us_go_down_and_confuse_their_language_so_they_will_not_understand_each_other。“
“我们要变乱人类的语言，让他们无法再顺利沟通。”
11:8___So_the_LORD_scattered_them_from_there_over_all_the_earth，_and_they_stopped_building_the_city。
就这样，人们停止建造那城和那塔，分散到不同的地方。
11:9___That_is_why_it_was_called_Babel--because_there_the_LORD_confused_the_language_of_the_whole_world。_From_there_the_LORD_scattered_them_over_the_face_of_the_whole_earth。
那座没有建成的城市被称为巴别（与希伯来语“搅乱了”的发音相近）。
耶和华就是在这里，变乱了人类的语言，人类从此四散在大地上。
11:10__This_is_the_account_of_Shem。_Two_years_after_the_flood，_when_Shem_was_100_years_old，_he_became_the_father_of_Arphaxad。
以下是闪的后裔记录。
洪水过后的第二年，当时闪正好一百岁，他生下了儿子亚法撒。
11:11__And_after_he_became_the_father_of_Arphaxad，_Shem_lived_500_years_and_had_other_sons_and_daughters。
闪生下亚法撒后，又活了五百年，期间生育了其他的子女。
11:12__When_Arphaxad_had_lived_35_years，_he_became_the_father_of_Shelah。
亚法撒在三十五岁时，生下儿子沙拉。
11:13__And_after_he_became_the_father_of_Shelah，_Arphaxad_lived_403_years_and_had_other_sons_and_daughters。
亚法撒生下沙拉后，又活了四百零三年，期间生育了其他的子女。
11:14__When_Shelah_had_lived_30_years，_he_became_the_father_of_Eber。
沙拉在三十岁时，生下儿子希伯。
11:15__And_after_he_became_the_father_of_Eber，_Shelah_lived_403_years_and_had_other_sons_and_daughters。
沙拉生下希伯后，又活了四百零三年，期间生育了其他的子女。
11:16__When_Eber_had_lived_34_years，_he_became_the_father_of_Peleg。
希伯在三十四岁时，生下儿子法勒。
11:17__And_after_he_became_the_father_of_Peleg，_Eber_lived_430_years_and_had_other_sons_and_daughters。
希伯生下法勒后，又活了四百三十年，期间生育了其他的子女。
11:18__When_Peleg_had_lived_30_years，_he_became_the_father_of_Reu。
法勒在三十四岁时，生下儿子拉吴。
11:19__And_after_he_became_the_father_of_Reu，_Peleg_lived_209_years_and_had_other_sons_and_daughters。
法勒生下拉吴后，又活了二百零九年，期间生育了其他的子女。
11:20__When_Reu_had_lived_32_years，_he_became_the_father_of_Serug。
拉吴在三十二岁时，生下儿子西鹿。
11:21__And_after_he_became_the_father_of_Serug，_Reu_lived_207_years_and_had_other_sons_and_daughters。
拉吴生下西鹿后，又活了二百零七年，期间生育了其他的子女。
11:22__When_Serug_had_lived_30_years，_he_became_the_father_of_Nahor。
西鹿在三十岁时，生下儿子拿鹤。
11:23__And_after_he_became_the_father_of_Nahor，_Serug_lived_200_years_and_had_other_sons_and_daughters。
西鹿生下拿鹤后，又活了二百年，期间生育了其他的子女。
11:24__When_Nahor_had_lived_29_years，_he_became_the_father_of_Terah。
拿鹤在二十九岁时，生下儿子他拉。
11:25__And_after_he_became_the_father_of_Terah，_Nahor_lived_119_years_and_had_other_sons_and_daughters。
拿鹤生下他拉后，又活了一百一十九年，期间生育了其他的子女。
11:26__After_Terah_had_lived_70_years，_he_became_the_father_of_Abram，_Nahor_and_Haran。
他拉在七十岁时，已生下了三个儿子，分别是亚伯兰、拿鹤、哈兰。
11:27__This_is_the_account_of_Terah。_Terah_became_the_father_of_Abram，_Nahor_and_Haran。_And_Haran_became_the_father_of_Lot。
以下是他拉后裔的记载。
他拉生下了三个儿子：亚伯兰、拿鹤、哈兰。
其中，哈兰又生下了一个儿子，名为罗得。
11:28__While_his_father_Terah_was_still_alive，_Haran_died_in_Ur_of_the_Chaldeans，_in_the_land_of_his_birth。
哈兰的寿命很短，他在出生地吾珥去世时，他的父亲他拉还在生。
吾珥是迦勒底人的家乡。
11:29__Abram_and_Nahor_both_married。_The_name_of_Abram＇s_wife_was_Sarai，_and_the_name_of_Nahor＇s_wife_was_Milcah;_she_was_the_daughter_of_Haran，_the_father_of_both_Milcah_and_Iscah。
亚伯兰和拿鹤，分别娶了哈兰的两个女儿为妻。
亚伯兰娶的是撒莱，拿鹤娶的是密迦。
11:30__Now_Sarai_was_barren;_she_had_no_children。
撒莱是不能生育的，她没有子女。
11:31__Terah_took_his_son_Abram，_his_grandson_Lot_son_of_Haran，_and_his_daughter-in-law_Sarai，_the_wife_of_his_son_Abram，_and_together_they_set_out_from_Ur_of_the_Chaldeans_to_go_to_Canaan。_But_when_they_came_to_Haran，_they_settled_there。
后来，他拉带着儿子亚伯兰、哈兰的遗子罗得、以及亚伯兰的妻子撒莱，离开了迦勒底人的家乡，准备迁徙到迦南地。
他们途经一个名为哈兰的地方，那地方跟他死去的儿子同名，他们就定居了下来。
11:32__Terah_lived_205_years，_and_he_died_in_Haran。
他拉一共活了二百零五岁，后来在哈兰死去。
