她笑了笑说：“Great question. Supposedly， most of the colleges in the U.S. are non profit organization. However， more and more colleges are run like corporations. They are more interested in making money， and offer less and less scholarships. Ivy League schools are no exception， if not worse. (很棒的问题。从理论上讲，美国绝大多数的大学都是非赢利组织。但是，越来越多的大学像公司一样运转。大学对赚钱更感兴趣，奖学金越来越少。常春藤盟校也不例外，如果不是更糟。)”
一个同学问：“What is a legacy student？(请问什么是世代学生？)”
她很惊讶地说：“Wow， I am impressed. It is not a myth， but a known truth now. In Ivy League schools and other top schools， if your parents or grand parents have attended the school before， and they donate money regularly to the school， you are called a legacy student. For example， in certain school， if your parents donate at least twenty thousand per year for at least five years， you are put in a legacy pool， you can get admitted much easier than rest of the applicants. It is true， privileged kids can get in much easier. The rich get richer. The privileged get more privileges. (哇，你们给我留下了很深的印象。这已经不是一个传说，而是一个众所周知的事实。在常春藤盟校和一些最好的大学，如果你父母，祖父母上过一所大学，如果你父母又常捐款给学校的话你就被叫做世代学生。比如，在某些学校，如果你父母每年至少捐两万美金，起码持续五年以上，你就会被放进一个世代学生圈，会比其他的学生容易被录取得多。这是真的，特权学生是比其他人容易得多。有钱的人更有钱，有特权的人得到更更多的特权。)”
我们大家都听得津津有味的。
她看了看表，然后说：“We do not have that much time left. I want to ask you one question my favorite professor asked us in his first class. By the way， he is a psychology professor. If the world ends in three days， in another word， if you only have three days to live， what will you do？ (快下课了。我想问你们一个问题。我最喜欢的教授在他的第一节课上问过我们。对了，他是一个心理学教授。如果，这世界在三天后就毁灭了。换句话说，你只有三天可以活了，你要做什么？)”
同学们有各种各样的回答，我们大家互相嘲笑着。
"Get drunk.(喝醉酒。)"
"Try to find a way to live longer. (找个办法活得更长一点儿。)"
"Get married right way. (马上结婚)"
"Spend all my money. (把钱全花光)。"
轮到我了，我想一想说："I will just watch everybody else. (我只想看着大家)。"
大家都愣了一下，连我自己都惊讶于我自己的回答。
老师看了我一眼说：“That is the coolest answer I ever have heard. (那是我所听到的最棒的回答)。”
正在这时，下课铃响了。
“So quick？” “The class is over？”大家都嘟囔着，觉得这堂课下得太快了。
回到宿舍，李钢正站在那儿等着我，他旁边还站着个小伙子。
他一见我，就大声嚷着：“你小子又去哪儿了？”
我笑着说：“上课去了。”
他也笑着说：“你？上课？别开玩笑了。”
我笑着说：“真的。咱也得做好本职工作吧。得，又话快说吧，有什么事儿。”
他一拍脑袋，赶紧介绍说：“这哥们我在火车上认识的，也北京的，在上海工专念。他有几辆旧自行车要出手，价儿没的说。我家里有点儿事儿，我得回北京一趟，没法帮他了。我想你没准儿能有点儿什么路子。”
我先是一口答应下来，然后问李钢：“没问题。李钢，你家里有什么急事儿，我能帮得上忙吗？”
他摇摇头说：“我奶奶癌症晚期，可能不行了。我们家里人让我回去。”
我忙说：“有事儿说一声，点名的课我还帮你去点。”
李钢笑笑说：“你小子是走野路子惯了，这是正经的事假，不用你那招儿了。”
我也笑了。
那人也挺热情的样子，说：“我叫齐畅，见面就是有缘，走，咱们喝两杯去。”
我伸出手说：“吴剑。李钢知道我，对酒过敏。烟我可是要叨扰你的。”
他笑笑，握了握我的手。我觉得他的手湿冷湿冷的。
李钢挥挥手说：“那我走了啊，还要回去收拾东西呢。”
我们两个人都冲着李钢挥挥手。
席间，我问齐畅：“你都有什么车要卖？”
他笑笑说：“都是些进口和合资的高档跑车，山地车。尽是八九成新的。你看，现在就剩这两辆了，有两张照片，这辆五百就卖，那辆六百五。帽子费你随便拿。”
我摇摇头说：“帽子费我绝对不拿，就当是交朋友了。”
他笑笑说：“行。你这朋友我交定了。”
我边想边说：“不过，这样的车，一般的大学生也买不起啊。还得另找人。”
我突然灵机一动，对他说：“我没准儿有办法。你听我好消息。”
在下一节的英语课上，大家伙起哄着按照Ruth York 的音，叫她“妖螺丝”，她听了我们的解释，是demon (妖怪) 和a kind of oyster (一种吃的小小的贝类)， 居然接受了：“I like it. I like both demon and oyster (我两个都喜欢。)”
然后，她先给我们讲解了美国的国歌， 给大家印象最深的是歌词的最后一句话。接下来，她又教我们唱：
“Oh， say can you see， by the dawn"s early light，
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight"s last gleaming？
Whose broad stripes and bright stars， through the perilous fight，
