48:1___Some_time_later_Joseph_was_told，_“Your_father_is_ill。“_So_he_took_his_two_sons_Manasseh_and_Ephraim_along_with_him。
过了不久，约瑟收到父亲病重的消息。
约瑟带着两个儿子，玛拿西和以法莲，一同去探望父亲。
48:2___When_Jacob_was_told，_“Your_son_Joseph_has_come_to_you，“_Israel_rallied_his_strength_and_sat_up_on_the_bed。
以色列听说约瑟来了，勉力从床上坐了起来。
48:3___Jacob_said_to_Joseph，_“God_Almighty_appeared_to_me_at_Luz_in_the_land_of_Canaan，_and_there_he_blessed_me
他对约瑟说：“昔年，我经过迦南地区的路斯时，全能的上帝对我显现，祝福了我。”
48:4___and_said_to_me，_＇I_am_going_to_make_you_fruitful_and_will_increase_your_numbers。_I_will_make_you_a_community_of_peoples，_and_I_will_give_this_land_as_an_everlasting_possession_to_your_descendants_after_you。＇
“全能的上帝对我说，‘我会使你的后裔繁盛兴旺，我会使你开创出一个强盛的民族。’”
“‘我会将迦南的全部土地，永恒的赐给你的后裔。’”
48:5___“Now_then，_your_two_sons_born_to_you_in_Egypt_before_I_came_to_you_here_will_be_reckoned_as_mine;_Ephraim_and_Manasseh_will_be_mine，_just_as_Reuben_and_Simeon_are_mine。
“我未来埃及之前，你所生下的那两个儿子，以法莲和玛拿西，此后就归入我的名下，算是我的子裔。”
“他们可以像流便和西缅一样，承继我的产业。”
48:6___Any_children_born_to_you_after_them_will_be_yours;_in_the_territory_they_inherit_they_will_be_reckoned_under_the_names_of_their_brothers。
“你以后生下的子女，才算是你的子裔。”
“他们可以从以法莲和玛拿西的名下，以后辈的名份分得产业。”
48:7___As_I_was_returning_from_Paddan，_to_my_sorrow_Rachel_died_in_the_land_of_Canaan_while_we_were_still_on_the_way，_a_little_distance_from_Ephrath。_So_I_buried_her_there_beside_the_road_to_Ephrath“_(that_is，_Bethlehem)。
“我从巴旦地区回归的路上，在差不多到达以法他时，可怜的拉结死了，我只好把她埋葬在路边。”（以法他即是伯利恒）
48:8___When_Israel_saw_the_sons_of_Joseph，_he_asked，_“Who_are_these?“
这时，以色列看到约瑟的两个儿子，就问：“这两个孩子是是谁？”
48:9___“They_are_the_sons_God_has_given_me_here，“_Joseph_said_to_his_father。_Then_Israel_said，_“Bring_them_to_me_so_I_may_bless_them。“
约瑟说：“这两个就是上帝在埃及赐给我的儿子。”
以色列说：“你带他们过来，我要祝福他们。”
48:10__Now_Israel＇s_eyes_were_failing_because_of_old_age，_and_he_could_hardly_see。_So_Joseph_brought_his_sons_close_to_him，_and_his_father_kissed_them_and_embraced_them。
以色列因为年纪老迈，眼睛昏花得厉害，几乎看不清东西。
约瑟把两个儿子带到以色列身前，以色列拥抱和亲吻他们。
48:11__Israel_said_to_Joseph，_“I_never_expected_to_see_your_face_again，_and_now_God_has_allowed_me_to_see_your_children_too。“
以色列对约瑟说：“我一直以为，这辈子再没有机会看到你了。如今可好了，上帝还让我见到你的儿子。”
48:12__Then_Joseph_removed_them_from_Israel＇s_knees_and_bowed_down_with_his_face_to_the_ground。
约瑟把两个儿子从以色列的膝盖上抱了下来，自己跪伏在父亲的面前。
48:13__And_Joseph_took_both_of_them，_Ephraim_on_his_right_toward_Israel＇s_left_hand_and_Manasseh_on_his_left_toward_Israel＇s_right_hand，_and_brought_them_close_to_him。
接着，约瑟让两个儿子站到以色列身前。
以法莲站在他的右边，正对着以色列的左手；玛拿西站在他的左边，正对着以色列的右手。
48:14__But_Israel_reached_out_his_right_hand_and_put_it_on_Ephraim＇s_head，_though_he_was_the_younger，_and_crossing_his_arms，_he_put_his_left_hand_on_Manasseh＇s_head，_even_though_Manasseh_was_the_firstborn。
以色列伸出右手，按在以法莲的头上，以法莲乃是约瑟的次子。
以色列又伸出左手，与右手交错，按在玛拿西的头上，玛拿乃是约瑟的长子。
（注：以色列的习俗，长辈祝福时，右手应按长子的头，因为右手比左手所带来的祝福更大。）
48:15__Then_he_blessed_Joseph_and_said，_“May_the_God_before_whom_my_fathers_Abraham_and_Isaac_walked，_the_God_who_has_been_my_shepherd_all_my_life_to_this_day，
以色列开始祝福：“愿我祖父亚伯拉罕和我父亲以撒事奉的上帝，愿一直指引着我人生方向的上帝，”
48:16__the_Angel_who_has_delivered_me_from_all_harm--may_he_bless_these_boys。_May_they_be_called_by_my_name_and_the_names_of_my_fathers_Abraham_and_Isaac，_and_may_they_increase_greatly_upon_the_earth。“
“以及那拯救我脱离一切苦难的天使，祝福这两个孩子。”
“愿他们的后裔繁盛兴旺，使我的声名、以及我祖父亚伯拉罕、我父亲以撒的声名，得以流传。”
48:17__When_Joseph_saw_his_father_placing_his_right_hand_on_Ephraim＇s_head_he_was_displeased;_so_he_took_hold_of_his_father＇s_hand_to_move_it_from_Ephraim＇s_head_to_Manasseh＇s_head。
约瑟看到以色列把右手按在以法莲的头上，以为父亲老糊涂了。
约瑟就拿起父亲的右手，要从以法莲的头上移到玛拿西的头上。
48:18__Joseph_said_to_him，_“No，_my_father，_this_one_is_the_firstborn;_put_your_right_hand_on_his_head。“
约瑟说：“父亲你搞错了，这一个才是我的长子，你的右手应该按在他头上。”
48:19__But_his_father_refused_and_said，_“I_know，_my_son，_I_know。_He_too_will_become_a_people，_and_he_too_will_become_great。_Nevertheless，_his_younger_brother_will_be_greater_than_he，_and_his_descendants_will_become_a_group_of_nations。“
以色列推开他的手，说：“我的儿子，我没有搞错。”
“你的长子将来会开创出一个强盛的民族，只不过，他弟弟将来的成就会更大，他的后裔会发展成众多强大的民族。”
48:20__He_blessed_them_that_day_and_said，_“In_your_name_will_Israel_pronounce_this_blessing:_＇May_God_make_you_like_Ephraim_and_Manasseh。＇“_So_he_put_Ephraim_ahead_of_Manasseh。
稍作休息后，以色列再次为两个孩子祝福：“将来，以色列人都要引用你们的名字来进行祝福，他们会说，‘愿上帝使你成为像以法莲和玛拿西那样的人。’”
以色列又一次将以法莲的名字排在玛拿西前面。
48:21__Then_Israel_said_to_Joseph，_“I_am_about_to_die，_but_God_will_be_with_you_and_take_you_back_to_the_land_of_your_fathers。
祝福后，以色列对约瑟说：“我的死期已近，不过上帝会继续看顾你们。”
“上帝会指引你们，必有一天，你们会回归到祖先们生活的地方。”
48:22__And_to_you，_as_one_who_is_over_your_brothers，_I_give_the_ridge_of_land_I_took_from_the_Amorites_with_my_sword_and_my_bow。“
“昔年，我用刀剑和弓箭，从亚摩利人手上夺下了一片山川。”
“如今，我将这片山川赐给你，使你比其他的兄弟多分得一份领土。”
