4:1___Adam_lay_with_his_wife_Eve，_and_she_became_pregnant_and_gave_birth_to_Cain。_She_said，_“With_the_help_of_the_LORD_I_have_brought_forth_a_man。“
离开伊甸园后，亚当和妻子夏娃同房。
夏娃怀孕，生下一个儿子，取名为该隐（与希伯来语“得到”的发音相近）。
夏娃说：“这是耶和华赐给我的孩子。”
4:2___Later_she_gave_birth_to_his_brother_Abel。_Now_Abel_kept_flocks，_and_Cain_worked_the_soil。
后来，夏娃又生了一个儿子，取名为亚伯。
两个孩子长大后，亚伯以放牧羊群为生，该隐则是以耕种田地为生。
4:3___In_the_course_of_time_Cain_brought_some_of_the_fruits_of_the_soil_as_an_offering_to_the_LORD。
在收获的季节，该隐用田地里的产出献祭给耶和华。
4:4___But_Abel_brought_fat_portions_from_some_of_the_firstborn_of_his_flock。_The_LORD_looked_with_favor_on_Abel_and_his_offering，
亚伯献祭的是肥美的初生羔羊。
耶和华喜欢亚伯和他的祭品。
4:5___but_on_Cain_and_his_offering_he_did_not_look_with_favor。_So_Cain_was_very_angry，_and_his_face_was_downcast。
该隐见自己和祭品不为耶和华所喜欢，于是就很嫉恨，脸色变得十分阴沉。
4:6___Then_the_LORD_said_to_Cain，_“Why_are_you_angry?_Why_is_your_face_downcast?
耶和华对该隐说：“你的脸色如此难看，你因何而生怨恨？”
4:7___If_you_do_what_is_right，_will_you_not_be_accepted?_But_if_you_do_not_do_what_is_right，_sin_is_crouching_at_your_door;_it_desires_to_have_you，_but_you_must_master_it。“
“若是你觉得自己所行之事是好的，哪为何不被我认可？”
“你如今无法辨清事情的好坏，恶念已是在你心门外徘徊，你不要被它蒙蔽，你必须要除去这些恶念。”
4:8___Now_Cain_said_to_his_brother_Abel，_“Let＇s_go_out_to_the_field。“_And_while_they_were_in_the_field，_Cain_attacked_his_brother_Abel_and_killed_him。
献祭过后，该隐对弟弟亚伯说：“我们去田地里走动一下。”
两人去到田地里，该隐就把亚伯杀害了。
4:9___Then_the_LORD_said_to_Cain，_“Where_is_your_brother_Abel?“_“I_don＇t_know，“_he_replied。_“Am_I_my_brother＇s_keeper?“
事后，耶和华问该隐：“你的弟弟亚伯去哪里了？”
该隐说：“我不知道，我不可能一辈子看护着弟弟。”
4:10__The_LORD_said，_“What_have_you_done?_Listen!_Your_brother＇s_blood_cries_out_to_me_from_the_ground。
耶和华说：“你究竟做了些什么？你听到了吗？你弟弟的鲜血在土地上向我哀号！”
4:11__Now_you_are_under_a_curse_and_driven_from_the_ground，_which_opened_its_mouth_to_receive_your_brother＇s_blood_from_your_hand。
“如今土地已经吸收了你弟弟的鲜血，那是从你手上流下的血，你被这土地咒诅了。”
4:12__When_you_work_the_ground，_it_will_no_longer_yield_its_crops_for_you。_You_will_be_a_restless_wanderer_on_the_earth。“
“土地将不再接受你的耕作，你所种植的作物不会有任何的收成。”
“你将会在大地上流离失所。”
4:13__Cain_said_to_the_LORD，_“My_punishment_is_more_than_I_can_bear。
该隐对耶和华说：“我是犯下的罪孽，然而我所受的惩罚太重，我承受不起。”
4:14__Today_you_are_driving_me_from_the_land，_and_I_will_be_hidden_from_your_presence;_I_will_be_a_restless_wanderer_on_the_earth，_and_whoever_finds_me_will_kill_me。“
“如今你要将我驱逐，我以后再也见不着你了。”
“我在大地上漂泊时，会被那些遇见我的人杀死。”
4:15__But_the_LORD_said_to_him，_“Not_so;_if_anyone_kills_Cain，_he_will_suffer_vengeance_seven_times_over。“_Then_the_LORD_put_a_mark_on_Cain_so_that_no_one_who_found_him_would_kill_him。
耶和华说：“你不必忧虑这个，若是有人胆敢杀害你，将会受到七倍的报应。”
耶和华在该隐身上设立了神记，让所见之人不敢去杀害他。
4:16__So_Cain_went_out_from_the_LORD＇S_presence_and_lived_in_the_land_of_Nod，_east_of_Eden。
就这样，该隐离开了耶和华上帝，流浪于伊甸园的东边区域。
（注：希伯来文的“NOD”，是指徘徊漂泊，并非是一个地名。）
4:17__Cain_lay_with_his_wife，_and_she_became_pregnant_and_gave_birth_to_Enoch。_Cain_was_then_building_a_city，_and_he_named_it_after_his_son_Enoch。
该隐后来娶了妻子，他妻子生下一个儿子，取名为以诺。
该隐为他的儿子建造了一座城，就叫以诺城。
4:18__To_Enoch_was_born_Irad，_and_Irad_was_the_father_of_Mehujael，_and_Mehujael_was_the_father_of_Methushael，_and_Methushael_was_the_father_of_Lamech。
以诺后来生下儿子，名为以拿。
以拿生下儿子，名为米户雅利。
米户雅利生下儿子，名为玛土撒利。
玛土撒利生下儿子，名为拉麦。
4:19__Lamech_married_two_women，_one_named_Adah_and_the_other_Zillah。
拉麦娶了两个妻子，一个名叫亚大，另一个名叫洗拉。
4:20__Adah_gave_birth_to_Jabal;_he_was_the_father_of_those_who_live_in_tents_and_raise_livestock。
亚大生下的大儿子，名叫雅八，他是游牧行业的始祖。
4:21__His_brother＇s_name_was_Jubal;_he_was_the_father_of_all_who_play_the_harp_and_flute。
亚大生下的小儿子，名叫犹八，他是乐器吹奏行业的始祖。
4:22__Zillah_also_had_a_son，_Tubal-Cain，_who_forged_all_kinds_of_tools_out_of_bronze_and_iron。_Tubal-Cain＇s_sister_was_Naamah。
洗拉生下的儿子，名叫土八该隐，他是金属铸行业的始祖。
洗拉还生下一个女儿，名叫拿玛。
4:23__Lamech_said_to_his_wives，_“Adah_and_Zillah，_listen_to_me;_wives_of_Lamech，_hear_my_words。_I_have_killed_a_man_for_wounding_me，_a_young_man_for_injuring_me。
一天，拉麦对他的两个妻子说：“亚大和洗拉，你们仔细听我说。”
“我杀了一个人，因为他伤害了我；我还杀死了一个少年，因为殴打我。”
4:24__If_Cain_is_avenged_seven_times，_then_Lamech_seventy-seven_times。“
“倘若杀害该隐，会受到七倍的报应。那么，杀害我拉麦的人，就要承受七十七倍的报应。”
4:25__Adam_lay_with_his_wife_again，_and_she_gave_birth_to_a_son_and_named_him_Seth，_saying，_“God_has_granted_me_another_child_in_place_of_Abel，_since_Cain_killed_him。“
亚伯被该隐杀害后，亚当又与妻子夏娃同房。
夏娃生下一个儿子，取名为塞特（与希伯来语“给了”的发音相近）。
夏娃说：“上帝又赐给我一个孩子，他会替代被该隐杀害的亚伯。”
4:26__Seth_also_had_a_son，_and_he_named_him_Enosh。_At_that_time_men_began_to_call_on_the_name_of_the_LORD。
塞特生了儿子，取名为以挪士。
从那时起，人们开始向耶和华上帝祈祷。
