16:1___Now_Sarai，_Abram＇s_wife，_had_borne_him_no_children。_But_she_had_an_Egyptian_maidservant_named_Hagar;
撒莱是不能生育的，她有一个埃及女仆，名叫夏甲。
16:2___so_she_said_to_Abram，_“The_LORD_has_kept_me_from_having_children。_Go，_sleep_with_my_maidservant;_perhaps_I_can_build_a_family_through_her。“_Abram_agreed_to_what_Sarai_said。
撒莱对亚伯兰说：“既然耶和华没有赐给我子女，你去跟我的女仆同房吧，让她替我生孩子，那样我也算是拥有子女了。”
亚伯兰就按撒莱的话去做。
16:3___So_after_Abram_had_been_living_in_Canaan_ten_years，_Sarai_his_wife_took_her_Egyptian_maidservant_Hagar_and_gave_her_to_her_husband_to_be_his_wife。
在迦南地区生活的第十年，在妻子撒莱的安排下，亚伯兰娶了埃及女仆夏甲为伺妾。
16:4___He_slept_with_Hagar，_and_she_conceived。_When_she_knew_she_was_pregnant，_she_began_to_despise_her_mistress。
亚伯兰与夏甲同房，不久夏甲怀孕了。
夏甲仗着身孕，开始轻慢女主人。
16:5___Then_Sarai_said_to_Abram，_“You_are_responsible_for_the_wrong_I_am_suffering。_I_put_my_servant_in_your_arms，_and_now_that_she_knows_she_is_pregnant，_she_despises_me。_May_the_LORD_judge_between_you_and_me。“
撒莱对亚伯兰说：“我因你而蒙受羞辱。是我把那个女仆安置在你身边，如今她仗着有了身孕，就轻贱于我，愿耶和华为此主持公道。”
16:6___“Your_servant_is_in_your_hands，“_Abram_said。_“Do_with_her_whatever_you_think_best。“_Then_Sarai_mistreated_Hagar;_so_she_fled_from_her。
亚伯兰说：“你是她的主人，你可以做任何想做的事情。”
撒莱就狠狠的惩罚夏甲，夏甲于是逃跑了。
16:7___The_angel_of_the_LORD_found_Hagar_near_a_spring_in_the_desert;_it_was_the_spring_that_is_beside_the_road_to_Shur。
在通往书珥的路上，耶和华的天使找到了夏甲。
当时，夏甲停留在旷野的一口泉眼旁边。
16:8___And_he_said，_“Hagar，_servant_of_Sarai，_where_have_you_come_from，_and_where_are_you_going?“_“I＇m_running_away_from_my_mistress_Sarai，“_she_answered。
天使说：“撒莱的女仆夏甲，你从何处来？打算往何处去？”
夏甲说：“我刚从女主人撒莱那里逃了出来。”
16:9___Then_the_angel_of_the_LORD_told_her，_“Go_back_to_your_mistress_and_submit_to_her。“
天使说：“你要回去女主人身边，你以后要好好的顺从她。”
16:10__The_angel_added，_“I_will_so_increase_your_descendants_that_they_will_be_too_numerous_to_count。“
“我会赐福你，使你子裔兴旺，日后人口多得不可胜数。”
16:11__The_angel_of_the_LORD_also_said_to_her:_“You_are_now_with_child_and_you_will_have_a_son。_You_shall_name_him_Ishmael，_for_the_LORD_has_heard_of_your_misery。
耶和华的天使又说：“你如今怀着一个儿子，他出生后，要取名为以实玛利（希伯来语：上帝垂听），因为耶和华已经体察到你的苦难。”
16:12__He_will_be_a_wild_donkey_of_a_man;_his_hand_will_be_against_everyone_and_everyone＇s_hand_against_him，_and_he_will_live_in_hostility_toward_all_his_brothers。“
“你儿子的性情会如同野驴一般，他会与所有人为敌，他将会远离他的兄弟，独居在东方。”
16:13__She_gave_this_name_to_the_LORD_who_spoke_to_her:_“You_are_the_God_who_sees_me，“_for_she_said，_“I_have_now_seen_the_One_who_sees_me。“
夏甲称那耶和华的天使为“上帝的眷顾”，她对此说：“我如今也获得了怜悯和垂青。”
16:14__That_is_why_the_well_was_called_Beer_Lahai_Roi;_it_is_still_there，_between_Kadesh_and_Bered。
那口泉眼，后来被命名为庇耳拉海莱（希伯来语：看顾我的永生者之井）。
这泉眼一直长存于加低斯和巴列之间。
16:15__So_Hagar_bore_Abram_a_son，_and_Abram_gave_the_name_Ishmael_to_the_son_she_had_borne。
后来，夏甲为亚伯兰生下一个儿子，亚伯兰遵照耶和华的吩咐，取名为以实玛利。
16:16__Abram_was_eighty-six_years_old_when_Hagar_bore_him_Ishmael。
夏甲生下以实玛利时，亚伯兰是八十六岁。
